UPCOMING THIS SPRING 2007

Advanced Service Learning Course Construction
This advanced session offers intensive, step-by-step training in converting a course in any discipline into an SL-designated course. Strongly recommended for faculty preparing an application for the SL course designation. Space limited to 10 participants. Advance registration required.

All faculty who complete the Course Construction workshop and submit a successful application for a Fall 2007 SL course designation will receive a $100 gift certificate for use in the Marshall Bookstore.

MUSLP offers a regular series of workshops designed to help faculty develop service learning courses in their respective disciplines. We offer three types of workshops:

Introduction to Service Learning Advanced Service-Learning Course Construction Best Practices Roundtable : Service Learning in the Disciplines

Every Fall semester during New Faculty Orientation. All faculty are invited. (45 minutes)

This session introduces faculty to the philosophy of service learning, distinguishes service learning from internships and other forms of experiential learning, and offers examples of service learning in a variety of disciplines.

Every Fall and Spring during Week 9. Space limited to 10 participants. Reservations required. (4 hours)

This advanced session offers intensive, step-by-step training in converting a course in any discipline into an SL-designated course. Strongly recommended for faculty preparing an application for the SL course designation.

Every Spring during Week 12. All faculty are invited. (90 minutes)

This session reviews some of the
best SL practices in a variety of disciplines and showcases some of the service-learning projects and pedagogies developed by Marshall faculty, students, and community partners during the current academic year.
