This session introduces
faculty to the philosophy of service learning, distinguishes
service learning from internships and other forms of
experiential learning, and offers examples of service learning
in a variety of disciplines.

Fall and Spring during Week 9. Space limited to 10
participants. Reservations required. (4 hours)
This
advanced session offers intensive, step-by-step training in
converting a course in any discipline into an SL-designated course.
Strongly recommended for faculty preparing an
application for the SL
course designation.

Every Spring during Week 12. All faculty are invited.
(90 minutes) This
session reviews some of the
best SL practices in a variety of disciplines and showcases some
of the service-learning projects and pedagogies developed by
Marshall faculty, students, and community partners during the
current academic year.
