Fraternities at Marshall University
Marshall University is home to eleven national fraternities, including ten North American Interfraternity Conference fraternities and one historically-black National Pan-Hellenic Council fraternity. Alpha Sigma Phi Founded at Yale University on December 6, 1845, Alpha Sigma Phi was founded upon five virtues: Charity, Honor, Purity, Silence and Patriotism. The Old Gal was originally founded as a sophomore literary society, but to this day has grown to be much more. We push for academic and social excellence, while fostering brotherhood. Alpha Sig is the fastest growing fraternity nationwide, and is looking for those members who are striving for excellence in every facet of their lives.
Alpha Tau Omega Founded in 1865 at the Virginia Military Institute, Alpha Tau Omega prides itself on having a strong and open brotherhood. ATO is a leadership fraternity that gives you the tools for building a successful future. Stop by the house at any time and introduce yourself. We are always looking for eager men to join our brotherhood. A few events Alpha Tau Omega does each year are a camping trip, ski/snowboarding trip and our annual golf outing.
Alpha Phi Alpha Alpha Phi Alpha is the first Black, Inter-Collegiate Greek-Lettered fraternity. It was founded on December 4, 1906 at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Its founders are known as the "Seven Jewels". Alpha Phi Alpha developed a model that was used by the many Black Greek Letter Organizations (BGLOs) that soon followed in its footsteps. It employs an icon from Ancient Egypt, the Great Sphinx of Giza as its symbol, and its aims are "manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind," and its motto is First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All.
Delta Chi Delta Chi believes great advantages are to be derived from a brotherhood of university men. Appreciating that close association may promote friendship, develop character, advance justice and assist in the acquisition of a sound education. Delta Chi at Marshall has held the highest term GPA for the past two semesters and has raised over $3,000 for our national philanthropy, the Jimmy V Foundation, and holds the longest intramural undefeated football record.
Kappa Alpha Order Emulating chivalric ideals and genteel ethics, KA translates these timeless philosophies into the mainstream of American colleges and universities. With 136 chapters and 125,000 initiated members, Kappa Alpha continues to be a leader among fraternities.
Pi Kappa Alpha Pi Kappa Alpha is dedicated to developing men of integrity, intellect and high moral character while fostering a truly lifelong fraternal experience. Our members strive to be Scholars, Leaders, Athletes and Gentlemen. PIKE has been on Marshall’s campus continuously for 64 years which makes it the longest consecutive fraternity on campus. The men of PIKE hold strong to their morals and look for those who prove ambitious.
Pi Kappa Phi Pi Kappa Phi was founded in 1904 in Charleston, SC. The men of Pi Kappa Phi profess to be men of CLASS: Character, Leadership, Academics, Sportsmanship and Service. This chapter is composed of campus leaders from various organizations of high moral character. Our’s is the only national fraternity that owns and operates its own philanthropy, Push America, benefiting those with disabilities. We are dedicated to serving our university and community.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon Sigma Alpha Epsilon was founded on March 9, 1856, at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The mission of Sigma Alpha Epsilon is to promote the highest standards of friendship, sholarship and service for our members based upon the ideals set forth by our founders and as specifically enunciated in our creed.

Sigma Phi Epsilon Sigma Phi Epsilon is a social college fraternity founded on November 1, 1901 at Richmond College. It was founded on three principles: Virtue, Diligence and Brotherly Love. Sig Ep is one of the largest social fraternities in the US in terms of current undergraduate membership and has a first-year retention rate of 75%.
Tau Kappa Epsilon Tau Kappa Epsilon was founded on January 10, 1899 by five men at Illinois Weslyan University. TKE was founded on the basis of love, charity and esteem and are considered the defenders of those principles. We recruit men not based on wealth, rank or honor, but by their personal worth and character. Our vision is to create lifelong relationships that enhance educational, interpersonal, community and professional success.
