Student Affairs' Activities & Programs Help Develop Coherent Values and Ethical Standards

Support maintenance and development of coherent values and ethical standards while bringing these goals to the forefront of what it means to be e a student at Marshall University.

Establish a campus environment where students can learn to appreciate the differences in themselves and others. 3-5 years

Define ethical standards through the development of a Creed that all Marshall University students can embrace.

Implement and maintain activities and programs that promote accomplishments that demonstrate strong ethics. 3 years
Emphasize volunteer programs. 2 years
Enhance leadership programs including John Marshall Emerging Leaders Institute and Leadership Retreats. 1 year
Introduce Service Learning and Leadership as a course.

Sponsor a Multicultural Leadership Conference. 2 years
Establish a Leadership Living Learning Residence Hall Environment/Fraternity/Sorority Leadership Environment. 5 years
Reframe the appeal process, student grade appeal process and grievance process to facilitate equitable time frames for both students and professors. Currently there are no time frames in place for faculty or administration to respond to student concerns 1 year
Take the lead in creating learning communities which reinforce the rights of students 5 years
Develop a comprehensive plan for character development and values programming that is synonymous with the goals of John Marshall. 3 years.

Priority Action Plan:
Utilize the phrase "What would John Marshall do" in planning programs and activities. This phrase used as a catalyst for programming initiative would provide the basis for the standards and values promoted by the institution and student affairs programming.
