Student Affairs Uses Systematic Inquiry to Improve Student and Institutional Performance

Long Range Goals: Achievement Timelines:

Develop a mission statement for each unit in Student Affairs.

Develop and activate an ongoing assessment plan which determines how effectively Student Affairs is meeting its objectives and mission. This objective would necessitate the establishment of an assessment/evaluation unit.

Develop programs based on goals and assessment through process based and outcome based measures.

Establish a priority to remain informed of current research and trends in Student Affairs

Present formal needs assessment from each unit at the end of each term. 1 year
Set aside time and resources for Student Affairs to process current trends. 1 year
Advocate for the inclusion of out of classroom experiences in student satisfaction surveys. 2 years
Assessment:  
Utilize already collected data.
Get assessment plan ready by May 2000 for implementation in Fall 2000.
Continue to refine.
 
Priority Action Plan:
Prioritize and perfect a system to assess the impact of Student Affairs programs on student learning. This would necessitate the development of programs to maximize the learning and impact. Student needs should shape programmatic goals.
