Student Affairs Uses Resources Effectively to Achieve Institutional Missions and Goals

Continue to look at duplicative efforts such as community service initiatives, academic support programs, and residence services programming to craft complementary programs and support systems to create a wide range of effective programs. This may include institutional reorganizing.

Redefine Student Affairs mission at Marshall University to firmly support the Institutional statement of philosophy.

Continue to utilize university personnel to achieve goals. Ongoing
Strengthen our role as multifaceted mentors with as many students and settings as possible.  
Utilize technology in more effective ways. 1 year
Continue to weave faculty into roles where they can mentor students through contact in advisory roles, judicial boards, participation in student affairs programs and services. 6 months to 5 years
Improve skills in the area of technology of professional staff members through staff development programs. 6 months
Design an impact statement on current administrative structures and continuity of services to students. 6 months

Develop cross-departmental teams with:

  1. Residence Services
  2. International Programs
  3. African-American Student Programs
  4. Academic Advising
  5. Service Learning
  6. Memorial Student Center
  7. Student Health
2 years
Assessment:  
Include a statement of fiscal possibilities and limitations. This could include a yearly assessment to assess strengths, weaknesses and challenges to mission.  
Priority Action Plan:
Develop a vision statement accompanied by an evaluation of the resources with supports and challenges to that vision.
