The Modification of Zinc oxide Nanoparticles with Perfluoro Phosphonic Acids to Enhance the Longevity of Solar Cells

Self-Assembled Monolayers (SAMs) were formed on the surface of Silicon Dioxide nanoparticles to try to elongate the longevity of solar cells. These nanoparticles were reacted with three different acids octadecylphosphonic acid (ODPA), 16-phosphonohexadecanoic acid (COOH-PA), and 12-phosphonodecyl phosphonic acid (Di-PA). The nanoparticles will be observed using Infrared Spectroscopy to determine that the acid has bound to the surface properly and is in an ordered system. Using this metal oxide, the results were inconclusive. The systems were looking disordered consistently through many trials and this caused the chance from silicon dioxide to zinc oxide.
