Andrew is currently working with Dr Dewey Sanderson in the Geology department, where is doing research on "Trends in Precipitation in the State of West Virginia"
"This study utilizes precipitation data from the National Climatic Data Center to determine average annual precipitation and year-to-year variation. It was found that average annual precipitation has been increasing over the last 50 years and the year-to-year variation is decreasing. With an increase in annual precipitation in the state and variations in precipitation amounts becoming more stable, the current state of this research is to find how West Virginia receives the increased amounts of precipitation. An analysis is currently underway to determine if individual storm duration is increasing, or if the storm durations are the same, is the amount of precipitation per storm increasing."
