Demand Response Program/PJM

The PJM Demand Response Program starts June 1st – September 30th each year.

Marshall University participates by reducing or shifting the power down in five (5) academic buildings (Smith Hall, Harris Hall, Fine Arts, Science Building, and Gullickson Hall/Henderson Center) when notified by Direct Energy.

Demand response provides an opportunity to significantly reduce the demand on the electrical grid during critical peak periods of high usage throughout the United States.By participating in the program, the university helps reduce the electrical load on the grid, which prevents blackouts and damage to equipment.
