Special Education Program at MU

The Special Education Program at Marshall University is one of the largest in West Virginia with certification programs available in six areas of special education. It also produces the highest number of graduate students in the university. (B.O.T. census 1995)

Graduates of the Special Education Program are certified to teach exceptional children at various levels in public schools and a variety of institutional settings. Employment opportunities are excellent. The demand for teachers, clinicians and administrators of exceptional children continues to grow at local, state, and national levels. Student programs are planned on an individual basis according to the background and interests of the individual. Students are also provided with the opportunity to work with children in many agencies which provide services to exceptional children.
