Administrative Secretary Sr., Elementary/Secondary Education in
the Graduate School of Education and Professional Development,
has been named the Marshall University Employee of the Month for
April, according to Michelle Brown Douglas, chair of the
Employee of the Month Committee.
She was nominated by Dr. Calvin E. Meyer, Program Director of Elementary/Secondary Education, with support from faculty members Dr. Edna Meisel, Dr. Sam Securro, and Dr. Bizu Wubie.
In his nomination Meyer wrote, “Ms. Schwarz has been an incredible asset to the Elementary/Secondary Education Program area….Mrs. Schwarz performs her duties with the utmost grace and efficiency. She understands policy and ensures it is followed in the carrying out of her duties. She is timely with honoring faculty needs such as supply requests, travel reimbursements, etc. She represents the needs of the program area when she is asked to convey them. She gives of her own time to complete her work even if it means extending her work day.”
Meyer said Schwarz is dedicated to her job and points out that she came to work even after breaking her foot. “The emails and cards of appreciation certainly speak to the level of support she has from faculty and students alike….Ms. Schwarz handles many administrative matters for the students, freeing the Program Director to handle curriculum, student and major administrative issues.”
Securro said, “Carolyn is a first point of contact for many of our students seeking information and needing guidance for registering or admitting. She is very helpful and goes out of her way to get students connected with the needed parties and her behavior always invites friendliness and cooperation.”
Meisel added, “She is very patient, friendly and respectfully direct in all of her dealings with faculty, staff and students.”
“She is an asset to the Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education Program,” Wubie said.
Schwarz was presented with a plaque and a check for $100 by Dr. Rudy Pauley, Associate Vice President for Continuing Studies and Outreach.
