Q. How can I access my Microsoft Outlook account from off campus?
A. You can access your Microsoft Outlook account from off campus
by following the directions located at
http://www.marshall.edu/ucs/systems/Exchange/outlookweb.asp
Q. What are the differences between the Outlook client and
Outlook Web?
A. The Microsoft Outlook client is for users on campus. This
requires installation of software to access the application, your email, and
any calendar events you may have. Outlook Web is a web interface to the
Outlook desktop client and may be accessed anywhere you have Internet access
and a web browser.
Vanity Email Address
Q. What is a Vanity Email Address?
A. A Vanity Email Address is a more descriptive email
address that you have chosen (but which must be based on your last name).
For example: Ann Expert could choose a Vanity Email Address of ann.expert@marshall.edu
instead of the expert1@marshall.edu email address she was originally issued.
Q. Will my old username-based email address still work?
A. After establishing a Vanity Email Address, you will still be
able to receive email that is sent to your username-based email address.
However, you will not be able to send email using that address. When you
send an email message, your new Vanity Email Address must be used. If you
configure your mail application to use your username-based email address,
the mail system will automatically convert that address to your new Vanity
Email Address before attempting to deliver the message.
Q. Can I change my Vanity Email Address once it is created?
A. You can change your vanity address any time you want. The
vanity address must end with .lastname, your last name that is in the
email database. Your last name can only be changed if you have had a legal
name change. Otherwise, you can activate, delete, or change your vanity
address at will. However, you need to be aware that any such change can
result in the loss of email sent to an old vanity address.
Q. Where do I go to create my Vanity Email Address?
A. To create your Vanity Email Address please go to http://www.marshall.edu/ucs/systems/vanityemail.asp
and follow the directions at the bottom of the page.
