Q. What operating systems are supported on campus?
A. Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP are the currently supported
operating systems for PC’s. Mac OS X is the currently supported operating
system for Apples. Also see Customer Support Levels, Products, and Services for Marshall University Owned Equipment
Q. If I have an unsupported OS how do I upgrade to a
supported version?
A. There are basically two options. It may be possible to simply
upgrade the operating system without losing your data or installed
applications. You can do this yourself by obtaining the software
through the Computing Services front desk check-out. You can also contact
the Help Desk at ext. 3200 or helpdesk@marshall.edu. They can assist in the
upgrade process. The second option would be to reimage your machine, thereby
installing a clean OS/applications package on your machine. See the previous
questions on the imaging process for further information.
Q. How do I get help for an unsupported OS?
A. By contacting the Help Desk at ext. 3200 or helpdesk@marshall.edu.
The rate for support of an unsupported OS is $25 per hour. For more
information about our rated services, please see
