Network Configuration For Windows XP

1. Disabling Dial-Up


Launch or Start Internet Explorer 



Click Tools and Internet Options




Click the Connections tab and click the SETUP button.




By default the first time you launch IE the New Connection Wizard will appear. Simply click the Next button at the welcome box to begin setup process.




You will be asked What do you want to do? Click the option Connect to the Internet. Click the Next button.




At the next prompt choose Set up my connection manually. Click the Next button.




The next dialog box will appear and you will be asked How do you want to connect to the Internet? Choose the option Connect using a broadband connection that is always on. Click the Next button.




The next dialog box will appear. Click the Finish Button.




2. DHCP Setup

Click on the start button and highlight My Network Places. Right click on My Network Places. click on Properties






Right click on Local Area Connection, click on Properties






Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click on Properties





The Obtain an IP address automatically should be checked and   Obtain DNS server address automatically should also be checked, click Ok and restart the machine




3. Cisco Clean Access
 

Open your browser and follow the Cisco Clean Access instructions

CCA Instructions:

Set up your computer and connect the network cable to the network card. Use a network cable, not a telephone line and then connect your network cable to the network jack. (see image below)







Installing Cisco Clean Access

1. Open the browser, i.e. Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox (this tutorial is shown using Internet Explorer).

A web page should display; do not be alarmed if your browser does not display a traditional home page.

2. If you attempt to go to an off-campus site, you will see a MU Network window. Type your MU username and password in the appropriate fields. Click
Continue.



 

3. After reading the information provided, click Download Clean Access Agent...

4. When the CAA Setup appears, click Run.

5. When the InstallShield Wizard window appears, click Next; then click Finish.

6. When the CAA Login window appears, type your MU username and password in the appropriate fields. Make certain that Marshall is selected as the authentication provider.

7. At this point a window will appear either indicating Success (Full Access to the Network- see figure 8. below) or Temporary Access, indicating that there is one (or more) of five potential issues with your computer:

After clicking on Continue, one of the following windows will appear:


1. Windows Needs To Be Updated
 

2. AV Not Up To Date

3. AV Not Installed

4. Anti-Spyware Software Not Up To Date

5. Anti-Spyware Software Not Installed (Optional, but Recommended)

Follow the instructions indicated on the window. You may encounter more than one of the windows above.
You will have 30 minutes to discover and correct any issues that inhibiting your access.

. When all of the requirements have been met, you will see the following screen, indicating that you have full access to the network.
