Scholastic Journalism Program (SJP)

During the fall, the Scholastic Journalism Program brings up to 16 of the best students from regional high schools to campus to live for three days and immerse themselves in journalism and see what college life is like.
It all starts with high school teachers encouraging the students to send applications to be a part of the program. The SOJMC faculty then picks those to be invited.
The students spend the three days going to classes with a SOJMC-student mentor, gaining hands-on experience by working on the newspaper, radio station or in TV and seeing what college life is like in general. We provide the housing, the visiting students pay for their meals while here.
