"See Yourself in the Big Picture" is the Marshall University Office of Volunteer Services Awareness campaign theme. The theme "See Yourself in the BIG Picture" encourages students to think of themselves in the "Big Picture" as it relates to providing service to area community organizations.

By seeing oneself as a part of the greater good, a volunteer can make a difference in the lives of the people they will come in contact with. Everyone has the opportunity to make changes, large and small, by seeing themselves in the Big Picture. All of us have skills and resources that can be translated into volunteer service opportunities.

As students serve, they learn. By being a part of the Big Picture, volunteers gain valuable hands-on documented experience by developing various skills that will serve as an asset in the future. Future employers will view the experience as valuable transferable skills which will give the person an edge over those who have less or no experience outside the classroom.

By being involved in "The Big Picture, " students are demonstrating dedication and commitment that are of vital importance to future employers. Volunteers have the opportunity to improve citizenship, life and critical thinking skills. Students will be able to reflect on their experience and the satisfaction of knowing that their contribution made a difference.

Students who take the time to provide services to the community develop a sense of purpose, become more culturally and socially aware, and feel great about themselves!

Students can be part of the Big Picture by becoming involved in either direct service or by participating in one of the Outreach Services sponsored by the program.
