Women of Color celebration to feature city official Brandi Jacobs-Jones

“Building Leadership: Community to Leadership” is the theme of this year’s Women of Color celebration scheduled to take place at noon on Wednesday, March 6, in the Don Morris Room of the Memorial Student Center.

The keynote speaker will be Brandi Jacobs-Jones, a Marshall graduate and a former president of MU’s Student Government Association, who currently is director of administration and finance for the City of Huntington. Jacobs-Jones received the Woman of Color award in a previous year.

Awards will be presented and a luncheon buffet will follow.

The Women of Color program activities are coordinated by Fran L. Jackson, Program Assistant II, Center for African American Students Programs; Leah Tolliver, Director, Women’s Center; Lisa Allen, Administrative Assistant, Multicultural Affairs; and Kesha Glover, Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life.

The program is free and open to the public.Vendors and displays will be set up in the lobby of the Memorial Student Center throughout the day.
