Empty Bowls is a national initiative, said Jaye Ike, special projects coordinator for the College of Fine Arts. For a $12 donation, people will receive a modest soup lunch and leave with a bowl made by Marshall students and those assisting them, with all proceeds donated to the Huntington Area Food Bank. Participants pick their one-of-a-kind bowl, and go through a soup line. The lunch is intended to be modest as a reminder to participants that many people in the Tri-State area go hungry.
“Please plan to attend, and invite friends,” Ike said. “Last year we raised nearly $20,000 for the food bank. Let’s do it again!”
