A member of the Marshall University faculty since 2001, Galbraith had previously been on the faculties of the University of Missouri-Columbia, Temple University and Florida Atlantic University. A specialist in adult and continuing education, he was a member of the International Adult and Continuing Higher Education Hall of Fame, having been inducted in 2011.
He received both a B.A. degree in social studies/education and a Master of Education degree from the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. He was awarded a doctorate in adult education from Oklahoma State University-Stillwater.
