Classified Staff projects to assist during the holiday period


For several years the Classified Staff has participated in a holiday project, which gives aid to local areas of need.  Once again Staff Council has chosen to take up items for two different projects.  The first project will be assembling Christmas bags for the homeless and needy, organized by Missy Clagg-Browning, who is the Marshall Medical Outreach Coordinator. These bags provide basic items such as toothpaste and toothbrushes to 300 people who find themselves homeless or needy this holiday season. The second project will be to provide items to the residents of the Veterans Home in Barboursville.

For the Homeless and Needy Christmas Bags Project, here are the items needed:

  • 300 Toothbrushes
  • 300 Tubes of Toothpaste
  • 300 Bars of Soap (Individually Wrapped)
  • 200 Men’s Deodorants
  • 100 Women’s Deodorants
  • 300 Little Debbie Christmas Cakes
  • 300 Candy Canes (Individually Wrapped)

For the Veterans Home, the items needed are:

  • Toiletries (travel sized are acceptable)
    Deodorant, Shaving Accessories (Razors, Shaving Cream, Aftershave), Toothbrushes/Toothpaste, Shampoo, Denture Care (Cleaner, Cups, Tablets), Soap (Bar or Liquid), Mouthwash, Tissues
  • Personal Care
    Laundry Detergent, Hair Care (Brush, Comb)
  • Clothing Items
    New Socks, New Handkerchiefs, New Hats/Gloves/Scarves, New Flannel Shirts
