This year’s Marshall University Day at the Capitol was scaled back due to logistical concerns related to this week’s winter storm.
Planned exhibits and displays promoting nearly 40 of the university’s programs have been canceled.
Some of the day’s scheduled activities, including visits to legislators by representatives of some of the university’s key programs, took place as planned.
“This is one of the most eagerly anticipated events on our calendar each year and we regret having to cancel all the displays,” said Matt Hayes, executive director of alumni relations. “But the logistics of being able to pull it off immediately following such a disruptive weather event would have made the exhibit setup nearly impossible for us as well as for the support staff at the Capitol.”
