Faculty/Staff Achievement: Dr. Michael Woods


Dr. Michael Woods, assistant professor of history, has won the James A. Rawley Award from the Southern Historical Association for his 2014 book, Emotional and Sectional Conflict in the Antebellum United States, published by Cambridge University Press. The award is given to a distinguished book dealing with secession and/or the sectional crisis published during the previous two years. Woods accepted the award at the Association’s annual meeting, held Nov. 12-15 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
