Women's Basketball Wins Thriller In OT

December 3- Marshall's Women's Basketball team defeated George Washington 64-62 in overtime. Tynikki Cook made a basket with 11 seconds left to put the Herd up 11 seconds, and it proved to be the game winner. Cook had a career high with 32 points. The win was the second of the year for the Herd.

December 1- Despite having just one true freshman on the roster, this year's men's basketball team is ripe with young players who haven't gotten a chance to play, either here or elsewhere.

Kane leads Marshall to Victory Over FIU

November 30- Redshirt freshman DeAndre Kane scored 25 points to lead the Marshall Thundering Herd over the Isiah Thomas led Florida International Panthers. The victory comes just two days after a loss at the hands of the Louisville Cardinals. The Herd now have a record of 4-2.

November 29- Seniors Elizabeth Herman, Kelley Buglur and Elizabeth Fleming led Marshall to a 3-0 sweep over the ECU Pirates. The victory was only the 11th of the season for the Herd, but it came at a good time for the the trio, as it was their final game at Marshall.

Women's Basketball Falls to 1-2 With Loss to USC Upstate

November 18- Despite Herd players reaching double figures in points, Marshall fell to the USC Upstate Spartans 79-73. Tynikki Cook again led the way for the Herd, scoring 19 points. Junior Lateirdra Elliot set a career high with 17 points. The win was USC Upstate's first of the season.

November 16- With several key recievers hurt, many of the younger have had to step up. There has been no noticeable drop off in the passing game for the Herd, with Brian Anderson recording one of his best games of the year against Memphis.

November 16- Ray Taliaferro, a walk-on redshirt freshman, played his first game of the year against Memphis, running the ball 12 times for 66 yards. The freshman is one of many younger players the Herd has needed to play more due to injury.

Women's Basketball Team Defeats Longwood in Longwood Classic

November 15- Marshall's Womens Basketball defeated the Longwood Lancers 62-54 to claim its second win of the season, and avoid its first losing streak of the year. Senior Tynikki Cook led the team with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

November 15- The Thundering Herd defeated the Memphis Tigers 28-13. The win gave the Herd 4 on the year, who need 6 to reach a bow game for the second straight year.

Marshall Runner Finishes in Top 3 At C-USA Championships

November 4- Matt Schiffbauer finished 3rd in the C-USA Championship cross country meet. Schiffbauer finished 1 second behind the 2nd place finisher, and 12 seconds out of 1st place.

November 2- The Women's Basketball team started its season with a victory in an exhibition game against West Virginia Wesleyan 75-63. Senior Tynikki Crook led the way for the Herd with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

October 28- At this point in the season, Thundering Herd's record stands at 1-6. While a shot bowl at elligibility seems out of reach, it's not out of the picture.

October 22- The Marshall Women's Soccer team has several big games this weekend, as the team attempts to make it to postseason play for the first time since 2001.

October 21- Marshall and ECU have played each other 11 times in their history, with ECU winning 9 of those games. While the Herd may have played other teams more than ECU, that doesn't stop this from being one of the best rivalries in the C-USA

October 21- Marshall's ground game hasnt been the focus of their offense so far this year, and in order for the team to be victorius the Herd needs running back Martin Ward and company to step up.

So far Marshall is averaging 90.3 yards per game, which is almost half as many yards as they've allowed.

October 19- ECU's new head coach Ruffin McNiel has worked hard to install a new offensive philosophy. New quarterback Dominique Davis has flourished in the new system, which Marshall will see on Saturday.

October 18- As a part of Marshall Madness on Saturday night, Damier Pitts and Noah Fischer won the two-ball competition. Pitts sunk 3 half-court shots to defeat Shaq Johnson and DeAndre Kane 45-3.

UCF Defeats Marshall Despite Weather

October15- UCF defeated Marshall 35-14 at the Joan on Wednesday night. The game featured a 68 minute lightning delay near the end of the first half, and rained for much of the remainder of the game. The loss drops the Herd to 1-5 and 0-2 in C-USA play.

October 8- Marshall's Baseball program has put several of it's players into the minors since Head Coach Jeff Waggner took over. According to Coach Wagner, preparing them for the future is all part of the plan.

September 28- Marshall defeated Ohio last Saturday, on the strength of Brian Anderson's arm and a little bit of luck. The Herd is now 1-3 and plays at USM on October 2nd.

September 13- WVU may run an uncommon defense, but that doesn't mean that its uneffective. The 3-3-5 has more defensive backs than a usual Story, but it has given Marshall problems each time they play each other.

September 9- The women's soccer team beat Radford and Appalachian State to win the Best Western Huntington Mall Inventational. Marshall was the only team to win both of its games.
