From Wimba Live Classroom to Blackboard Collaborate
Since 2009, Live Classroom has been a feature in MUOnLine. In July 2010, Blackboard purchased Wimba and Elluminate, another competing web conferencing platform. Because of this merger, Blackboard has created a new set of tools called Collaborate. Blackboard Collaborate™ gives you the functionality you need in a 21st century teaching and learning environment, such as two-way audio, multi-point video, interactive whiteboard, application and desktop sharing, rich media, breakout rooms, and session recording. Educators and students can engage as if they were in a traditional classroom, with as good as, or even better, outcomes. To view demos of Collaborate, user guides, and best practices, please view our migration website.
Log into MUOnLine and download Blackboard IM, an instant messenger service that allows you to chat with your current students, colleagues, and school services such as: Ask A Librarian, Writing Center, Tutoring Services, and Help Desk. Once downloaded, you do not need to be logged into MUOnLine to use this product. Also a great tool for virtual office hours.
