1. The student must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
2. Parent must complete a Federal Direct PLUS Electronic Master Promissory Note (PLUS MPN) by visiting www.studentloans.gov, clicking on the “What you Need for Direct Loans” link, and then clicking on the “Master Promissory Note” link.
The Federal Direct PLUS Electronic Master Promissory Note (PLUS MPN) signed by the parent is valid for 10 years once a PLUS loan is taken out (unless the parent applied and was approved with an endorser); however, a Direct Loan Request must be made each academic year and each summer award period to be considered.
In addition to the PLUS borrower being credit-worthy, to be eligible, the student must be enrolled at least half time and meet other general federal student aid eligibility requirements.
