Ray is a junior Political Science major who is originally from Boca Raton, FL but has grown up in the Huntington area. He has served on Student Government for two years- first as President of Freshman Council and then closely with previous Student Body President Patrick Murphy as Business Manager of the Executive Branch. He is actively involved in other student groups on campus, Ray is the Vice President and a re-founding father of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity,was a co-founder and Vice President of Marshall’s first Rotaract club and is also Treasurer of the Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honorary Fraternity. To add to his leadership experience, Ray has worked in retail for three years and has served as Store Manager of Verizon Wireless Cell Phones at the Huntington Mall since the fall.

Ray will be the first President in recent history to also serve on the Marshall University Board of Governors, which is comprised of citizens, appointed by the governor, who oversee the university’s operations and establish its policies.

Finally, Ray serves on many committees at Marshall including the Marshall University Alumni Association Board of Directors, Strategic Enrollment Planning Committee, Student Rec Center Advisory Committee, Homecoming Parade Committee, Plane Crash Ceremony Committee, and served last year as the Chairman of the President’s Advisory Council on Student Fee Allocations.

Ray lives by the Harrell Family motto that says “There is no such thing as good or bad luck, only hard work and what you attract to yourself.”
