The University College (UC) was created in 1999 to consolidate and coordinate retention efforts at Marshall University. We advise University College students and College of Liberal Arts students who are undecided on a major field of study. We also administer several programs important to the success of all Marshall students, such as the campus Tutoring Center, the Major, Minors & More! fair, National Student Exchange (NSE) and placement tests in English and Math.
Students who do not meet the prerequisite ACT score of 19 or high school GPA of 2.0 are admitted to University College. To be eligible to declare a major, a University College student will have three semesters to successfully complete mandatory developmental courses, along with other requirements, while maintaining an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher on 12 graded hours.
