AGENDA

PURPOSE:
To develop interest in and support for the development of a LEAD USER GROUP in the Huntington area, to foster economic growth through innovation, research, and technology testing.

NICHE AREAS:

  • Medical Devices
  • Identification Technology/ Transportation
  • Bioinformatics/Analytics

CONFERENCE GOALS:

  • Introduce the "Lead User Concept" as a method for creating a vision for KineticPark.
  • Draft ideas for attracting, keeping and growing the niche areas in the Huntington area.
  • Create a coalition of public, private, and academic leaders to encourage and support the development of the proposed niche areas for KineticPark.
  • Create an Electronic Rolodex of additional contacts and leads for proposed niche companies.
  • Pursue the research and development capacity of Marshall University to create new linkages between researchers at the university and the private sector to encourage technological innovation and commercialization, develop applied research, and support technology transfer for KineticPark.
  • Define the factors that will foster the development of Huntington's biosciences industry through technology transfer, new business formation, expansion of existing businesses and business attraction by providing a synergistic environment to pursue collaborative efforts with a common focus.
  • Develop the next steps for implementing the conference ideas.

  • 9:50 a.m. Eastern Carolina University's Experience in Applying Lead User Concepts in Medicine: Dr. David Balch, Director, The Telemedicine Center, East Carolina University

  • 10:45 a.m. Break

  • 11:15 a.m. WV State Economic Development Panel: Role and Capacity of the State to Foster Targeted Economic Development Efforts
