Tuition and Fee Structure

The committee supports a quality improvement initiative through an increase in tuition provided the money stays on the campuses of Marshall University and has no adverse effect on continued state funding. The committee recommends an initial increase of $300 phased in over several years and suggests the funds be applied to the following areas:

  1. Support, maintain and improve existing programs and resources including facilities, staffing and equipment at levels comparable to our SREB peers.

  2. Develop programs to assist students, staff and faculty including graduate assistantships, faculty and staff development, continuing support of scholarly activities and supplementing scholarship funds.

  3. Set aside funds for improvement of student life.

The committee recommends an ad hoc steering committee with representation from all affected constituencies be formed to address this issue in more detail and make specific recommendations on the allocation of any augmented funds.
