Marshall University Template Instructions Introduction Using the Template 1. Download (right click and choose Save Target As) either the HTML or ASP version of the template. The ASP template should only be used by advanced users who have ASP active for their site directory. ASP includes will only work on files that contain the .asp extension. 2. Download the Dept/College Title .PSD (right click and choose Save Target As) file and edit to display your Dept/College name. When finished, turn off layer 2 and save for web as .gif using transparency and #08481D as the matte color. If you do not have Adobe Photoshop, request a title by emailing webmaster@marshall.edu. Do not adjust the height or width of image. Font may be resized if type will not fit in the allotted space. 3. Customize code (Page Title, Title Graphic, Mailto link) to reflect Dept/College Information. Comment tags are included as informational cues in the HTML code of template files. Do not edit appearance, text, code, images and image maps located in the Top Header, Side Navigation or Footer of template, except as instructed. 4. Edit, Add/Remove links from the Link Menu in the Side Navigation bar. Links must contain class="primary" in the <A> tag specifications, so that it will use the appropriate link style. If you decide to have sublinks beneath the class="classified" in the <A> tag specifications. Alternatively, it is permissible to use the Expanding Menu Code Generator to form the Link Menu Content. This generates code which displays/hides sublinks sections. The methods listed above and in step 5 are the only accepted uses for content creation in the Side Navigation bar. 5. Optional: You may add a Quick Find Menu and/or Site Specific Search Box by using the available code generators. Cut and paste the code into the Side Navigation Bar. The Quick Find Menu and the Site Specific Search Box are to appear at the top of the bar each separated by a line of blank space. Alteration of the code produced by the generator scripts is not permitted. 6. Set the width of the Main Content Cell to accept desired content. Click here to view a conceptual image for a university template site.
