The Bro. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration was a program NU NU put together in order to celebrate the birthday of the great Bro. Martin Luther King Jr. The brothers invited Del. Arley Ray Johnson to speak on the importance of scholarship and high goals and to also reenact one of Bro. King's speeches. NU NU also commemorated the occasion with a seven candle light ceremony to represent the accomplishments of Bro. King and to pay tribute to our founding fathers.

In fall of '96 NU NU established the Bro. Clyde Perry Academic Scholarship, this award was established in order to recognize a deserving student who expressed academic and leadership qualities at Marshall. In an effort to provide Greek activities during homecoming '96, NUtorious NU NU presented Homecoming Stompfest '96. This was the first African-American Greek stepshow during homecoming weekend in the past 3 years. NU NU decided that in order to have an all Greek stepshow it would be up to us to provide it. Our efforts to promote Greek resulted in our first annual 5 on 5 Basketball Tournament, this tournament included black and predominately white fraternities and provided a sense of unity and basic fun among Greek organizations. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and B.U.S. (Black United Students) presented a joint Scholarship Fund Dance which was the stepping stone for our Bro. Clyde Perry Academic Scholarship.

Beyond our programs and activities NUtorious NU NU has also participated in Junior Achievement at Beverly Hills Middle School, volunteered with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, a national program of ALPHA PHI ALPHA FRATERNITY, INC., and provided tutoring and sponsorship of little league basketball teams at Scotts Community Center. NU NU chapter was also recognized as the Greek fraternity with the highest G.P.A. for fall semester at Marshall University.

In order to inform the student population of activities and achievements of NUtorious NU NU and to also express certain opinions that the brothers may have we began the publication of the NU NU Chapter Newsletter in Spring '97. The publication has been successful and allows us to reach out to the student population in a large scale manner.

As brothers of the NUtorious NU NU Chapter we continually strive to stay true to principles and objectives of ALPHA PHI ALPHA FRATERNITY, INC., the first intercollegiate Greek letter fraternity established for African-American men, which are scholarship, fellowship, good character and love for all mankind.
