Playing A Perfect Tune
By: Beth McCormick
While the Thundering Herd football team marched toward its National Championship, another group of Marshall students marched to their own tune.

The Marshall University Marching Thunder spent the season entertaining
the
fans with their pre-game and halftime performances.

Since director Baruch Whitehead arrived the fall of 1993, the Marching Thunder has grown by 100 members. With the help of assistant director Steve Hall, the Marching Thunder continues to strive to be a leader in collegiate bands. Its drum and bugle corps style is established by its extensive staff, many of whom are drum corps veterans and staff. The 200 members of the Marching Thunder have many different academic majors, (only 30% are music majors), but they do have one thing in common: the goal to be the best college band in the land!
