Baseball Rebuilds for the Future
Craig Antush begins his second year as head baseball coach at Marshall
University, Antush served as pitching coach for the Herd prior to being
named head coach.. In addition to his duties with baseball, Antush is the
facilities maintenance manager for Marshall University Stadium and CamHenderson
Center.
Antush came to Marshall after coaching the Wyomissing American Legion squad and the freshman team at Muhlenberg HighSchool in his hometown of Reading, Pa. He has also coached the Waynesboro (Va.) team to a second place finish in the Valley League. In the summer of 1993, Antush coached a team of Athletes In Action in a four week tour of Alphen, Holland; Prague, Czech Republic; and Montpellier, France, helping promote the game of baseball on an international basis.
During his collegiate pitching days, Antush compiled an impressive list of credentials. In 1982 and 1983 as a relief pitcher for the Alabama Crimson Tide,Antush fashioned a 9-3 record with seven saves. His senior season the Crimson Tide reached the championship game of the College World Series, where Alabama was defeated in the title game by the University of Texas and current Boston Red Sox pitching ace Roger Clemens.
Antush is married to the former Carol Rexford of Gaines, Pa., and has two daughters, Lorie and Jennifer. Antush received his master's degree in health and physical education from Marshall in 1994.
