We also played a role in changing various administrative policies.
After closely working with the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sarah Denman, and the Faculty Senate, we helped eliminate the "W/P,W/F" period, and merged it into simply a "W" period, this means that now students can withdraw from a class and not be penalized. Originally, a "WP" did not affect them, but a "WF" would count as an "F" on the final transcript.
Furthermore, we initiated and instituted a Fall break,
similar to a what many other universities now have. This will give the students
a needed break
during the month of October.
We also, gathered all of the Syllabi from all of the classes in order to bind them and place them in the library so they may aid students in choosing classes. This project will be completed by Session 50.
As the Shora administration was coming to an end, five teams were competing to be elected to the positions of Student Body President and Vice President. In turn, to work for the students of Marshall University, after all, the Student Government leaders are in fact the servants of the students.
The campaign was a competitive and tense one, but when
the dust finally settled, two men stood above the rest. Matt Glover and
J.J. Spichek were elected to the positions of Student Body President and
Vice President. The inauguration was held in
mid April and was a great celebration for two reasons. To bring session
49 to a formal and honoring close, and to congratulate and swear in session
50. It was a touching affair. Among other things, we presented all three
branches with awards to demonstrate our level of appreciation for all that
they did for Marshall.
