The Smith Hall Complex is a three building structure accommodating academic classrooms, and faculty offices. Smith Hall and the Evelyn Hollberg Smith Music Hall opened in 1967. The Communications Building was completed in 1970. Smith Hall houses the departments of Speech, Speech Pathology and Audiology, Journalism, Sociology and Anthropology, Political Science, Modern Languages, Math, and Liberal Arts. The Birke Art Gallery, student newspaper facility, lecture hall, speech correction clinic and language laboratory also are housed in the building. Smith Music Hall contains faculty studios, classrooms, listening laboratory, music library, recital hall and rehearsal facilities for groups and individuals. The Communications Building is the site for the WMUL radio, WPBY-TV, and the Department of Educational Media.

 


 

Parking is always a pain!! 1996-97 saw the parking problem issues addressed by the Student Government Association and the Administration. The SGA proposal forwarded to Faculty Senate included recommendations for re-allocation of resident parking and commuter parking. The administration received approval for land acquisitions in the 5th & 6th Avenue areas of campus. Construction was initiated for new parking lots in the Spring of 1997.

 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The beauty of campus proves an irrestible lure to the the campus community. From the russet colors of fall, the dogwoods of spring, to the cool breezes of summer- students and staff enjoy the seasons on the campus.

 


Dr. Nico Orsini, Professor of Physics, hams it up during his workout in the Gullickson Hall Fitness Center. The Fitness Center provides state of the art cardiovascular equipment, stationary and universal weight and resistance machines, and a multitude of free weights for use by students, faculty, and staff.
