"An animal kept for amusement or companionship." According to the American Heritage Dictionary, this is
the definition of a pet. "Lots of college folks have pets," said Steve Hensley, Associate Dean of Students.
"They range from dogs, spiders, snakes, fish, iguanas, and gerbils."
Students, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to show off their favorite animals at this year's pet show. The event will be Friday, April 17 beginning at noon at the Memorial Student Center Plaza.
Animals will compete in several categories including: the Leonardo DiCaprio Best Looking Pet, Oscar Winning Performance for Best Pet Trick and the RuPaul Best Dressed Pet, among others. Prizes will be provided for the winners.
"Last year I won a Marshall University sweatshirt for having the pet with the best trick," said Laura Sheets, Marshall staff member. "My dog Casey does the cutest tricks. He's a doll baby and I love to show him off."
There is no registration process. Show up at noon on Friday with your furry (or scaly) friends to have your pet compete. | |||
