Where the Students Go in....

Activities abound near the university.

"There is absolutely nothing to do in Huntington!", is heard often during those first few weeks new students arrive in the city. But, that is not necessarily true. There are many interesting places to go in Huntington, you only have to open your eyes and be prepared to walk (or drive) around the city a little while.

Are you a reading fanatic and have been through the bookstore a couple of times already and are looking to find a new place? Located in downtown Huntington there are a couple of bookstores, one of the most recognized are the Renaissance bookstore, which contains its own cafe downstairs and is often the site of frequent entertainment acts.

Want to add a couple of new compact discs, tapes or albums to your music collection? Davidson's and Now

Hear This both house the largest collections of compact discs, tapes and records in downtown Huntington. Second Time Around sells music, but also sells some of the more hard

to find items. All three are worth a visit when you have some free time. Who knows you might find that record you have been looking for all of your life.

Movies are always the place to go when you want to see the latest hits that everyone is talking about. Do want to be left out from the jokes and the best story plots. Huntington houses three local movie cinemas all within one block of each other. The Camelot and Cinema Theaters have both recently been remodeled and play some evenings to packed movie crowds. The Keith-Albee Theater, the oldest in the city, plays all the popular movie titles, but is also the home of many of the Marshall Artist Series events which are always hits in the Huntington community.

Restaurants, if there was ever a place to meet other people these are the happening places and Huntington has some of the best in the state! Want a bit of Mexican food in your life? Then make your way down to three local favorites, Chilli Willis, Chi Chi's and Calamity Cafe. All have wonderful cuisine and great atmosphere for friends to hang out for an evening on the town. Calamity Cafe is the home of some of the best open microphone live entertainment around. Other local favorites include, The Station (a.k.a. Heritage Station), Red Lobster, Happy Dragon, Mycroft's, Yesterday's (also a great place to go on a late night with friends), BW3's, Schlotzsky's Deli, and then there are the regular favorites all located within a short walk of campus.

What about the nightlife in Huntington? There are so many different places to go with friends to enjoy yourself. There are dance clubs, pool clubs, and a little something for everyone.

Still think there is nothing to do in the city. It just takes a little time to find all the activities, but once you do we're sure you will enjoy your time here in town a little more.
