Time for a Cultural Fusion

Center for African-American Students hosts Dancers

The Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center was the place to be the evening of Wednesday, March 18, 1998 when Terri "Ajile" Axam and her "Cultural Fusion" came to Marshall University.

The program which was co-sponsored by the Center for African-American Students and Multicultural & International Programs was a 90 minute exploration into the evolution of dance. The program traced dance forms and styles from

Kplongo (a West African Dance), to the Charleston, the Twist and worked its way up to the dances of the present day.

Axam is the former choreographer for the musical group "Arrested Development". She is also the founder and director of the Total Dance Theatre, a professional dance group based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Fusion is produced by Todd "Speech" Thomas also of "Arrested Development".
