"Thunder in the Mountains" is more than just the title of this year's yearbook. It originally was the title given to one of the biggest events at Marshall University in years, the opening football game between Marshall University and West Virginia University. Excitement for the game began at the end of the 1996-97 year and continued until game day.
The Office of Student Affairs and Student Activities decided to celebrate the football game, Marshall's return to the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and the start of the new academic year by sponsoring week-long activities culminating in the biggest Pep Rally in the university's history. |
When the game was over, the teams left the field, but the spirit of the week carried on the remainder of the year. When the yearbook staff met to select a title for this year's yearbook, the decision was quick and unanimous.....Thunder in the Mountains
We hope you find this second edition of our Marshall Year-In-Review as exciting as the first. We have tried to document the excitement experienced at Marshall during this academic year and to carry on the spirit of Marshall. We hope you enjoy our hard work!
