The Psi Chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma has not had one dull moment this year. The women have been very active in and out of the sorority house. And it seems that they don't plan to stop now. During these past years the women of Tri Sigma have participated in a number of projects. In addition to regular meetings, the Spaghetti fundraising dinners that were started during the past year have been carried on and expanded to include a dinner for Psi Chapter's alumnae. Following in the footsteps of tradition, a fundraising Chilifest was on March 16. The response was more than anticipated. Various groups came from campus to offer their support. And according to those there, it was a huge success.
Although fundraising events, such as the afore- mentioned items and the Valentine's Giveaway, were a big portion of the events, they are not the only activities the women participated in. They also took the time to get involved with the community. Several members got together one Friday afternoon and took balloons to every sick child at a local hospital. January 28 the members went to the YMCA's daycare and read to the children. And during the middle of March the members gathered cans of food from area homes to give to those in need.
While the women bettered the community they also took time to better themselves. Sigmas were actively involved in three presentations given by speakers on campus. The first one was at the house and dealt with abuse towards women. This topic was not one taken lightly and all were involved in quite a serious discussion. The second event was in regards to alcohol and the sisters were not too shy to answer questions asked and the organization found the speaker to be both informative and easy to relate to.
The women of the Psi Chapter have grown, both in number and in sisterhood. They welcome several new women as members. Through a Formal Fall Rush, Spring Rush and Open Bid parties they received a lot of new members. Obviously they got new members, but more importantly they grew closer as sisters. It is hard to pin point what made the women become so close at these events, but the fact still stands that the bond between them is stronger now. | ||||

Plans are being made and finalized for the next year, but you can be sure the Psi Chapter will be busy. With activities such as garage sales, an Easter egg hunt and Founder's Day the women of Sigma Sigma Sigma work throughout the year to create a chapter that will make both them and Marshall University proud.
