The Verve Pipe
If you didn't know whoThe Verve Pipe was in April of 1997....you probably do now...or you haven't had the radio on in six months! For many people, the announcement of the concert venue for SpringFest created questions of "WHO?" But it only took a few spins of the RCA Records CD, Villians, to let folks know the band we would be hosting was going to be BIG! The Verve Pipe made a stop on their tour in Huntington to introduce the community to their unique brand of alternative rock and roll. These guys rocked the house!! Playing primarily from their major label debut album - Villians- The Verve Pipe provided a sophisticated and musical breadth that kept the crowd chanting for more.

The rich harmonies and intricate arrangements give The Verve Pipe a rough, muscular, passionate, and keen intellectual drive. The Verve Pipe presents a repertoire that is anything but unpredicitable. Their tunes twist and turn from the aggressive sounds we identify with the main body of "alternative" music to soul-stirring vocals that are mellow and reflective. To identify The Verve Pipe as anything but multi-dimensional would be an injustice.
