Douglas Gerlach's Investorama
is a great place to start for all types of financial information. It has links to informative sites about bonds, brokerage & investment firms with Web Pages, Corporations on the internet, exchanges, financial jump pages, futures, government sources, mutual funds, quote servers, real estate, services for investors, software, tehnical analysis, and newsgroups. See the Directory for complete contents. The pages are well designed, some entries are annotated, and quotations from historical figures temper the seriousness of the topic.

The Gottingen Institute for Finance and Banking
(Goettingen Institut fuer Betriebswirtschaftliche Geldwirtschaft) has a comprehensive list of sources for stock quotes and other financial information for world wide financial markets on its Market Places and Quotations Page. Also, there is a Supplemental Alphabetic Listing. The pages are in English.

Shelia Webber's Business Guide
annotates American resources, but is very strong in UK, European, and even some Asian financial information sources. Annotations average 5-7 lines and are well written.

FinWeb - Financial Home Page
is a good starting point for those interested in academic related financial and economic information.

GNN Personal Finance Center
is an excellent starting point because GNN pages are annotated.

NESTEGG Personal Finance Page
has market analysis and other interesting financial information. Mutual Fund Performance Charts has links to excellent bar graphs. The Calendar of important government economic reports, meetings, etc is a handy tool.

Wall Street Journal Front Page
This site was renovated at the end of April 1996 and new information resources have been added regularly over the last months, so that this electronic Interactive version of the Journal contains everything that appears in the printed version. Registration (Hint: User Id's and Passwords are case sensitive.) is required, Access costs $29/year for subscribers to the paper version and $49/year for those without subscriptions to the WSJ. (Shouldn't subscribers to the regular print version get it for free? They already have paid once.) Pages will be continually updated, even on the weekends and throughout the night for foreign markets. Since so much is offered, navigation of the site is a bit tricky. Look at the Table of Contents or Search the Server. Other popular pages at the site include: the Briefing Book Search for company news and financial information, Marketplace page B1, Money page C1 , reports on world-wide markets, US Stock Markets, and Walter Mossberg's Personal Technology Column. The Personal Journal and Personal Portfolio are recommended to overcome information overload. They allow users to customize a profile of specific pages, news on 25 companies, and keywords in the Journal's articles, that will be retrieved when opening these pages. Logos of advertisers appear on many pages, but they are not bothersome.

Investors Business Daily
has concise well-written articles about US business activities, economic reports, and featured articles on smaller companies. Only the current day's edition is available. The frames interface is convenient to use. It's free, but you must register.

Finance Page Direct Links to Information

Washington Post Stock Page
is easy to use, gives more information and has better response time than the other services listed below, and it's free. In many ways it's better than the Wall Street Journal's Stock quotes, which charges subscription fees. You can build and save a 10 stock portfolio, that can be called up anytime. Basic prices, detailed market info, or charts can be requested for any stock. The Fundamental Data option provides info about prices, but also dividend, yield, Ex-Dividend date, volitality, number of shares and more. The Market Guide has many balance sheet type data like return on assets and equity, book value, and many different ratios like debt/equity. The Market Indices Summary reports on the prices of numerous markets including the DOW indices and NASDAQ. The Market Action Page offers summaries of the high volume, winners, and losers on the most commonly followed exchanges.

APL Quote Server
Market report (15 minute delay). You can request up 10 Stock quotations (15 minute delay) at a time. Stock Symbol lookup. One of the first such services on the Web. It seems to be easier to connect to than PC Quote below. Works better with a browser that displays tables, but there is an option for non-table browsers, which is more convenient for copying and pasting data.

Fast Quote
has good response time and like other services it gives stock information in a tabular format with a 15 minute delay. However, it has been observed on a number of occasions that stock prices for the current day were not available. The market index reports quote the constitute stocks as well as that of the index. Reports of stocks that made new highs or lows, volume alerts, most active, and many other reports are available. Charts of individual stocks are given for intraday, day, week or month. Users can setup their own portfolios of 7 stocks in order to receive quick reports on just those stocks without typing in ticker codes. Also, titles of news reports concerning a specific stock show, but you must subscribe (for a fee) to actually read the news article.

PC Quote/Spacecom Systems Home Page .
The Stock Quote Page is much like APL. Data reported is similar to APL above, including : daily high, low, close, PE, dividend, earnings per share, 52 week high and lows, X-dividend date, volatility index, and yield. Works better with a browser that displays tables.

Holt's Daily Market Reports
is a very comprehensive report of daily stock data including price, volume, and highs and lows for the day, and 52 week highs and lows. Sometimes, the report for a day is available late that night or early the next morning, but often reports run two to three days late. There is a fee-based subscription service for prompt reporting. Also available in HTML Format

NASDAQ Reports
offers overall market reports on over the counter stocks such as most active by volume and dollar amounts, top 10 advancers and decliners, NASDAQ Index, and the NASDAQ 100. Also, 15 minute delayed quotes on NASDAQ stocks, which include price, best bid, best asked, today's high, low, last sale, previous days close, net change and share volume. Also, gives link to the company's Web server, if there is one. Response time is very good. For even quicker results try the Less Graphical version.

American Stock Exchange, Inc.
Reports daily prices for AMEX Stocks and options, most active, highs, lows, and volume; but not for other exchanges. Also, has AMEX news reports and links users to other financial information.

EDGAR Company Reports from the SEC Securities Exchange Commission
gives complete text of annual, quarterly, 10k, and other reports that public companies are required to file. Currently, reports from about 75% of all public companies are included. In May 1996 all public companies will be required to report electronically. Go Directly to Search for Company Form

The Stock Room
"is a free WWW site offering graphs and quotes of US and Foreign Stock Market Indices, Bond Yields, Metals, Currencies, Advance/Decline and Breadth Indicators, Interest Rates, Producer Price Indicies, Fidelity Sector Fund Relative Strength, and custom graphing options. " Using George Holt's Daily Market Reports data, Jason Martin offers users a wide range of retrospective (last 3 years) graphical market analysis options It's very well done.

Experimental Stock Data
retrospective price & volume data for individual select stocks is provided by MIT. Heavily weighted toward the Technology stocks. Also, see Selected Top Stocks.

MIT also offers Graphs for Selected Stocks & Mutual Funds.

Internet Closed-End Fund Investor
explains the value of closed-end funds and offers some free infomation about specific funds, but detailed information, performance, and analysis are available only to for-fee subscribers.

Money Market and Bond Fund Yields
from IBC/Donoghue allows the user to browse alphabetically for a particular fund or to see lists of the top 20 yielding funds or the top 15 largest funds. Also news on money and bond markets.

US Tax Forms, Instructions, and Publications
from the IRS are available in PDF, PCL, Post Script or SGML formats. The PDF format is recommended because files are usually smaller and you can get a free copy of Adobe's Acrobat to view and print PDF files.

Taxing Times also has Federal forms in PDF format loaded at its site and a list of links to sources for State tax forms.

DRIPs Advisor
or Dividend Re-Investment Programs are offered by a relatively small group of public companies directly to investors. Dividends are reinvested automatically with no or only small fees. Some companies actually permit direct purchase of their stocks to initiate a DRIP, which allows investors to avoid brokerage commissions. The Drip Advisor a comprehensive list of Companies that offer DRIPS and information on how to enroll. The Drip Advisor offers to enroll you for $20 per company, but you can enroll directly with many companies.

US Savings Bonds
answers questions about when to buy and sell, how to buy and sell, and differences between H, E, and EE bonds. From the US Department of the Treasury.

Federal Reserve Beige Book
summarizes economic activity for the US as a whole and for each of the Federal Reserve districts. Based on anecdotal information on current economic conditions from "Bank and Branch directors" and interviews with key businessmen, economists, market experts, and other sources. Issued 8 times a year. Not technical, easy to read.

CardTrak Best Credit Card Rates
not only gives addresses and urls for banks with lowest APR, but best deals on no-fee and rebate cards. From Ram Research Inc.

Electronic Banking and Money Page
connects to sites where "net-wide banking and payment standards" are discussed. Also, links to banks with Web sites. By Scott Richards, a MBA Student at Ohio State.

Foreign currency converter
from Olsen and Associates gives current exchange rates based on recent currency transactions.

Real Estate and Mortgages
Mortgage Net
reports on interest rate trends, finding a mortgage company, mortgage calculators and home value estimate.

Mortgage payment Calculator returns numerous figures such as monthly payment, interest paid, principle paid, etc.

Home Fair Mortgage rates reports national average mortagage rates as well as rates in about 20 large metropolitian areas and 3 years of monthly rate histories. There is a Loan Qualification Calculator and a Monthly Payment Calculator.

HSH Mortgage Brokers
has daily report of mortgage interest rates, and trends in rates.

TIAA-CREF Home Page
offers financial planning advice, retirement planning software and information about TIAA-CREF funds and annuities.
