What's New?
To find out about Marshall's journal collection both online and in print, go to the Journal Page.
NLM's Gateway Offers One-Stop Searching
for PubMed, NLMLocator, MedlinePlus, Oldmedline, Aids Meetings, HSRProj. The first three databases will continue to be searchable independently at their established sites. The last three databases will be available only at the Gateway i.e. they are being removed from Grateful Med. "One target audience for the Gateway is the Internet user who is new to NLM's online resources and does not know what information is available or how best to search for it." The searching techniques are similar to PubMed only much less robust. Those who know they want journal articles (1966-Present) should continue to search PubMed . See NLM's list of articles about Pubmed and the NLM Gateway.
The New version of PubMed offers many convenience features, including drop down boxes for age, gender, and publication date. The boolean operators can be used to combine statements from the search history. The Display button can show a new short citation format.
You can copy selected citations from multiple searches to a clipboard and print them all at one time. The Clipboard prevents the addition of duplicates and you can sort by journal title, publication date, or author.
Check NLM's Mesh (Medical Subject Headings) before starting your search on PubMed. The online version has all the features of the printed tools and you will save time, if you find the best Mesh term before starting your search. You will do better searches faster, if you check Mesh first.
How do you search for Review Articles in PubMed or limit a search to an Aids subset? Perhaps, you would like to see articles from only nursing journals. There are many clues to searching PubMed on the PubMed Tips page.
Now you can check theHealth Science Library's Journal Holdings Online or check the Union List of Journals at HSL and the Huntington Veterans Administration Medical Center
