- The World Health Organization (WHO)
- does not yet have full-text of most its reports on the Web, but descriptions and how to order documents are. Still, many useful statistical data about morbidity and mortality on a global level are available. The site search engine is recommended over browsing when seeking specific data.
The 1995 World Health Report - Executive Summary has numerous data about about world incidence of diseases and their control. A recent Press Release about the 1996 World Health Report lists the Ten Biggest Infectious Disease Killers and the 10 Most Common Infections as well as highlighting the most pressing world health problems. The Global Burden of Disease focuses on disability as a measure of health rather than traditional mortality statistics. This approach highlights the prominence of mental illness, infectious diseases, and injuries as contributors to poor health. Many tables and charts show the correlation between socioeconomic status and health or disability. Prospects for progress by 2020 are projected for 8 different global regions.
Only selected topics are available online, the complete report can be ordered in paper.

- links to most commonly requested health related statistics including vital statistics, morbidity, health care expenditure, health insurance, State data, and more. Often users will find links to more comprehensive statistical resources.
- University of Michigan Health Statistics
- is a comprehensive list of high quality Web sources.
- Health Care Costs and Utilization Data
- is produced by the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research (AHCPR). Statistical tables for the Healthcare Costs &
Utilization Project (HUCP) report both national and inpatient data from 12 states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, New
Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Wisconsin.

- CDC Home Page US Center for Disease Control
- includes a search form to find specific topics through out many files.
- National Center for Health Statistics
- is part of the CDC. It has many commonly requested statistics in HTML format. Larger more detailed files are downloadable in the Acrobat format (PDF). Data files in spread sheet formats are found at the Data Warehouse. FastStats gives basic incidence data for diseases and summaries of data for each state.
Fact sheets and News Releases summarize the high points of recently released studies and give links to more complete data.
Important Statistical Series that have long been the foundation of health statistics in paper format are now published in PDF format. They include Advanced Data, Monthly Vital Statistics Reports, Vital Statistics of the US, Vital and Health Statistics, Health, US, Healthy People 2000.
Health 99 is one of the most convenient sources for US Health data and is especially good at providing charts that show trends in health status. It's in PDF format and takes a while to download.
There are, also,
marriage and divorce statistics in the PDF format.

- Heart Disease Biostatistical Fact Sheets
- combine excellent graphs with text-based data for different population segments, risk factors,
cardiovascular procedures, hospital discharges, and
leading causes of death. Some sheets compare heart disease incidence with other disease categories like cancer or accidents. Produced by the American Heart Association, whose site has many other useful information sheets on all aspects of heart disease.
- Cancer Facts
- from the American Cancer Society has many different short narratives and tables including, estimates of new cancer cases and cancer deaths for 1998.

- Atlas of Cancer Mortality in the United States, 1950-1994
- "is a book of maps, text, tables and figures showing the geographic patterns of cancer death rates* throughout the United States from 1950 to 1994 for about 40 cancers. The atlas is available as a printed book, and electronically." It will display customized maps down to the County level for each type of cancer. Data files in DBF or ASCII formats and Text can be downloaded.
- SEER Cancer Statistics
- from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End
Results Program in NCI's Division of Cancer Prevention and Control.
"Collects and publishes cancer incidence and survival data from population-based cancer registries covering approximately 14 percent of the U.S. population."

- from the CDC includes cumulative cases,

- Diabetes Facts
- provides a diverse selection of basic and statistical information such as prevalence, cost, mortality, incidence, treatment, pregnancy, and collaborating organizations.
- Professional Dental Statistics
- gives practice, personnel, and demographic data. From the American Dental Association
