Current Serials Recieved contains the titles and copyright fees for over 62,000 serials currently received
by the British Library Document Supply Centre (BLDSC) and the Science
Reference and Information Service (SRIS).
You can Order Articles via the Web from the Library's extensive collection, but it's more expensive than most vendors.
- National Library of Medicine
- NLM Publications is the place to look for Fact sheets Newsletters, NLM Program information, the Technical Bulletin, and Online Reference Manuals. Documents are available in Postscript or Acrobat (PDF) formats. The Document Gopher for NLM publications was discontinued in May 1997.
- National Network of Libraries of Medicine offers lists of medical libraries, FTP site for Docline software and documentation, NLM grants information, demonstrations of how hospital libraries can use the Internet.

- The Mann Library at Cornell shows how the Web can be used as an interface for journal article database and library catalogs.

- eLIB Electronic Newsletter
- is a witty and informative resource that describes and evaluates sources and services available on the Internet of potential use to librarians. It will also report to the library community at large on progress and developments within the Electronic Libraries Programme of FIGIT and ISSC information services.
The bi-monthly newsletter is published by the University Library of the University of Abertay Dundee and the UK Office for Library and Information Networking (UKOLN). Available both on the Web and in hard copy, "The newsletter will be aimed primarily at subject librarians and other working librarians in academic libraries." Of particular interest to health science librarians is OMNI .

- The British BUBL WWW Home Page
- has numerous resources of interest to librarians. Includes Usenets, job ads, journals, archives, mailing list and more.
- Digest of Education Library Statistics
- has a variety of statistics for school, academic and public libraries. Also, tables showing access to the Internet.
- ARL Statistics
- Association of Research Libraries site offers interactive data analysis that lets the user create a wide variety of graphs from a large selection of data. Even indicate ratios between two data types.
- NLM List of Serial Indexed
- gives the title, abbreviated title, years, Serhold number, and ISSN. Arranged by Title Abbreviation.
All titles selected for indexing in Medline (includes titles from the International Nursing Indes and the Index to Dental Literature), Aidsline, and HealthStar are included, if indexed since 1966. Titles indexed from cover-to-cover from Bioethicsline, Histline and Spaceline are also included. "The 2002 edition contains 9,930 serial titles, including 4,498 titles currently indexed for Medline . . ."
As of September 2001 Serline" includes almost 1.4 million holdings statements for 50,275 serial titles from 3,011 health sciences libraries in the United States and Canada."

- ISI Master Journal List
- contains over 8,500 titles and gives links to publisher Web sites. Browse entire list or search for specific journal.
- Library of Congress Classification System--Unofficial Guide
- is a handy way to find LC Class numbers. Gives only to top two levels, but is nicely done.
- Call Number Tutorial
- designed to teach new shelvers correct call number order.
- National Library of Medicine Classification Schedule
- Instructions to Authors in the Health Sciences
- Mulford Library of the Medical College of Ohio has a long and well maintained list of journals that post their instructions on the web.
The Columbia Guide to Online Style
. "presents a guide to locating, translating, and using the elements of citation for both a humanities style (i.e., MLA and Chicago) and a scientific style (APA and CBE) for electronically-accessed sources."

- Publisher's Catalogs Home Page
- is a much larger list of links than the E-Doc list below. From the Home Page users select a Country of a publisher and then from alphabetical lists of publishers names. There is a Lycos search, but it returns many seemingly irrelevant hits when you are just searching for a link to a publisher. Provided by Peter Scott of Northern Lights Internet Solutions Ltd. in Saskatoon, Canada.
- E-Doc List of Publishers
- is a comphrehensive list of publisher Web sites, most of which offer electronic versions of their catalogs. You can browse for publishers under the following categories: Academic, Computer Books, Scientific/Technical/Medical (STM), Electronic Publishing, Online Publishing Projects or search for a specific publisher.
Some entries are annotated.
- Rittenhouse Book Distrbutors
- is a good source for finding health science books that are in print and commonly available. You can search on author, title, or ISBN in the basic search mode. The Advanced search allows key word in title search and ranges for year of publication and price. Complete bibliographic information and prices are displayed.
- Majors Scientific Books
- has lists for Best Sellers, New and Forthcoming titles. There are separate subject lists for medical specialities, consumer health, and Multimedia (i.e. CD-Roms).
- Hytelnet is a database for listing and activating Telnet connections, which allow interactive searching of library catalogs and other databases.
- Galaxy Hytelnet
- offers an effective keyword search for finding just about any Library Catalog that is on the Internet. Read the
Tips on using Telnet. The Telnet Glossary is worth a look.
- Academic Medical Center Library Catalogs
- is a subset of Galaxy's Hytelnet.
- Telnet to the Library of Congress Catalog
- In addition to Books, you can find legislation and copyright information. The Web Catalog Search is easier to use and has a respectable response time.

The British Library OPAC
- does not have all its collections available on the Web, but it's still a set of large catalogs. Each catalog is searched separately. Many of the Items can be ordered from the British Library Document Supply Centre (BLDSC) It's available Monday - Saturday 04.00-24.00 hours GMT

- is NLM's catalog of books, AVs, and Journal holdings. It replaces the Telnet version. Many search options are offered. The Keyword Combination is best for most searches. ? is the truncation symbol. Use "quotation marks" for phrases, and the AND, OR, NOT operators in upper case. Read the Help section for further searching instructions.
- National Agriculture Library--ISIS Online Catalog

"ISIS is a computerized catalog containing the most
current bibliographic citations for books, reports, maps,
journals/periodicals, audiovisuals, CD-ROMs, software, and other
materials added to NAL collections since 1966. ISIS also contains
AGRICOLA journal article citations from 1985 onward. The catalog can be searched 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Saturday."
Web site searching is now available. It's much easier than the Telnet version.
- Telnet connections to commercial database vendors. Password Required Users must obtain passwords from the vendor.
- Telnet to Dialog , but first look at the Dialog Home Page to find file descriptions and prices, commands and operators, and On-Disc locally loaded databases and prices. Search Form for Database Descriptions.
