So, what exactly is it? Let\u2019s explain.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/uc\/uni-101\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UNI 100<\/a>, or Freshman First Class, is a required one-credit elective course that gives a peek into college life and how academics actually work. Sure, it\u2019s required, but honestly, it\u2019s one of the most helpful classes for first-year students.<\/li>\n<li>The course meets approximately twice during Marshall\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/wow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Week of Welcome (WOW)<\/a> and once for the first seven weeks of your fall semester.<\/li>\n<li>This curriculum is all about helping you get settled and make the most of your time on campus. You\u2019ll dive into campus policies, reflect on your first week and learn how to pick extracurricular activities that fit you best. Along the way, you\u2019ll pick up tips for avoiding burnout, get to know the Office of Career Education and other support resources and find out how an academic advisor can guide you through your college journey.<\/li>\n<li>One of the best parts? The course pairs you with a peer leader who becomes your go-to for questions and support. We know the first semester can feel overwhelming, and having a class leader makes it easier to build connections and feel like part of the Marshall community.<\/li>\n<li>UNI 100 is a letter-graded course with no textbook required! Students can earn up to 500 points through class attendance, Blackboard assignments and attendance at two required events. Points also come from self-reflection journals, critical thinking assessments, in-class discussions, quizzes, activities and more. These points are then used to determine your final letter grade for the course.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Still looking for more information?
