Hayson Morton brings more than twenty years experience in marketing and design communications from various major corporations and advertising agencies such as General Electric and Earle Palmer Brown Advertising. Her professional skills correlate to marketing strategies, design and advertising communications management, six-sigma methodology, and project management.
Currently she serves as a Professor at Marshall University, Huntington, WV teaching Typography, Systems Design, Corporate Identity, Visual Studies (Semiotics), Senior Portfolio and Professional Practice. Also, she is a faculty advisor for the Marshall chapter of AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Artists) and Art and Design Internship Program.
Professor Morton encourages self-direction and self-involvement in all aspects of the learning process. As an instructor, she acts as a guide and a coach. Her instructions rest on cultivating self-instruction, devising questions rather than answers, and instituting high expectations. This approach stimulates the active-learning process, which introduces the students; the art of questioning and answering that fosters self-directed learning.
