The Huntington Area Art Society lecture series will return this fall with \u201cPost-Impressionism to Cubism\u201d at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Cellar Door, 905 Third Ave.<\/p>\n
The series\u2019 lead presenter, Dr. Heather Stark, assistant professor of art and design at Marshall University, noted that she developed the season\u2019s enveloping theme, \u201cVisual Revolutions: the 20th Century,\u201d in response to the interest of community members who attended the pilot sessions last spring.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I looked back at the suggestion cards, there were several that made mention of a desire for further understanding of modern movements,\u201d Stark said.<\/p>\n
Although the lecture beings at 6:30 p.m., participants are welcome to arrive early for conversation and refreshments. The society\u2019s fall lecture series will continue at the same time and place Oct. 7, Nov. 11 and Dec. 9.<\/p>\n
Seating is limited. The series costs $40, payable by check to Marshall University. The check may be taken to the presentation or to the Visual Arts Center at 927 Third Ave. It may also be mailed to the Huntington Area Art Society, c\/o School of Art and Design, Marshall University, at One John Marshall Drive, Huntington, WV 25755.
