Welcome to Marshall University’s Black Alumni Connections Network

“Networking is the best way to find a job…..”(Forbes survey, 2011). Black Alumni Connections Network is an innovative career planning and post-graduate job acquisition initiative between Marshall University students and the dedicated and successful members/affiliates of the Marshall University Black Alumni, Inc. (MUBA). The Network is designed to dramatically improve the professional employment search process and to reduce the burden and length of time for recent and/or upcoming Marshall grads to secure meaningful employment in one’s field of study.

 

ATTENTION STUDENTS – HOW & WHY YOU SHOULD ENTER THE NETWORK

Black Alumni Connections Network will enable each student an opportunity to receive career advice, gain experienced insights and learn of potential employment options through the direct assistance from former Marshall graduates who have also entered The Network with this goal of gainful employment in mind. Soon after entering the network, you be able to see ALL Profiles of ALL alumni that have entered. Within 72 hours you will be sent a password to allow access into the network. Your personal information will not be shared with alumni or anyone else. After entering, you can simple begin communicating with one or more of our grads (Alumni Advisors) that are there to assist you as much as possible. After you have received you password, CLICK HERE to enter The Network and start making your Connections.

WAYS THAT YOU CAN RECEIVE ASSISTANCE FROM ALUMNI ADVISORS IN THE NETWORK

  • Get to know your advisor. Be friendly, professional and appreciative

  • Ask for advice about how to prepare your job search

  •  Be open to suggestions and recommendations

  • Follow through on recommendations

  • Keep your Network Alumni Advisor up to date, as needed

  • Be prepared to have your resume’

Black Alumni Connections Network will enable our successful graduates the opportunity to assist currently enrolled/recent grads in securing meaningful employment in relevant career fields. Considering the immense employment challenges facing our African American college grads, we recognize and value how your experience and connections will benefit our new grads and allow each of them the opportunity to be more competitive in today’s market.  Many of our alumni have gained much wisdom and have developed opportunities. Allowing our students the chance to network with you, will create great possibilities for all. Your contribution to the success of another MU graduate is immensely regarded.   • Be prepared to offer career advice and good information

  • Share your insights and recommendations

  • Share information about specific employment opportunities

  • Directly link the student to someone you know for career possibilities

  • Request termination from the network, upon request
