Healthy Herd Camp Licensing Information

This summer the Marshall Rec Center has applied to obtain a license to become a Child Care Center in West Virginia. Because of this, there are new regulations and rules that we will have to follow in order to operate within the parameters of our licensing. We ask that you are patient with us as we navigate this new terrain. Please make sure that you visit the Healthy Herd website in order to view the most up to date information. This is where you will be able to see the parent handbook, lunch menu, and weekly schedule. If there is any other documentation you would like to see or if you have any questions pertaining to the license, please reach out directly to the Camp Coordinator, Zach Kula, via email at kula@marshall.edu or via telephone at 304-696-4652. Please continue reading below for more information on some of our procedural changes from past summer camps. Before a camper is eligible to attend a day of camp the registration packet must be filled out and submitted, in its entirety. Please note that if the registration packet is not properly filled out then we will be unable to allow your camper to attend our camp. Please make note that certain parts of the packet will require information from your camper’s health care provider. Each child is asked to bring a lunch from home that follows the Child and Adult Care Food Program(CACFP) guidelines. The Healthy Herd Youth Camp has partnered with Harless Hall to provide a weekly lunch option for our campers that will provide meals that meet the guidelines of this program. You are able to add this weekly option onto your camper’s enrollment at any time. The Healthy Herd Youth Camp retains the right to replace a camper’s lunch with a CACFP compliant meal, if the provided meal does not meet the appropriate CACFP standards. Parents of the campers will be charged for this meal at pick up, the day the meal is provided. The license that we have applied for limits our enrollment and makes the age restrictions more strict than in years past. Each week we will only be able to enroll a maximum of 90 kids and they all must be aged 5-12 years old. We will NOT be able to make any special accommodations surrounding these parameters. We will continue to roll over our no refund policy. If you have any questions regarding any of the above points, please reach out to camp administration. We are excited to have your camper join us this summer and cannot wait to kick the summer off on May 31st!
