Our curriculum is built to prepare students to complete the requirements for licensure<\/a> as\u00a0a professional counselor (e.g., LPC) and certification<\/a>\u00a0as a school counselor in WV<\/span>\u00a0as well as national certification as a National Certified Counselor, Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor, and National Certified School Counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Students that complete the school counseling specialty area of emphasis are also eligible to complete the requirements for licensure as an LPC in WV.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some state licensure boards offer streamlined processes for graduates of CACREP-accredited programs <\/span>like Marshall\u2019s Counseling Department offers. Many states also offer endorsement or reciprocity options for people already licensed in other states for a designated period. Additionally, once the CounselingCompact<\/a> is fully operational, it will be easier for people licensed in one state to gain practice privileges in another. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We will work our best to provide flexibility and elective offerings to meet the needs of your professional goals; however, Marshall University cannot guarantee licensure or certification. Students are responsible for consulting with their state licensure governing bodies to evaluate their educational requirements.
